Our story

Like many busy families, we were balancing careers, raising two young boys, and learning how to make the most of our Maryland home. The yard we inherited was a builder’s blank slate—uninspired and high-maintenance. So, we did what many do: hired a landscape designer.

It looked beautiful for a season—but it didn’t feel like us. The beds were crowded, the upkeep was constant, and the space lacked a rhythm we could live with. What should have been a joy became a chore.

So we began again—slowly, thoughtfully, and by hand. We studied light, scale, and structure. We discovered how color and form could tell a story through the seasons. And in the process, we found our passion: designing gardens that feel personal, balanced, and alive.

Today, our garden reflects who we are—modern yet timeless, family-friendly yet artful.

That journey became Palora.

We design palettes and resources to help other gardeners create the same sense of ease and beauty—without needing to be experts.

Our Philosophy

At Palora, we believe a garden is more than a landscape—it’s a sanctuary, a living story, and a reflection of life’s seasons.

We design with four guiding principles:

  • Personal — Every garden should reflect its owners. We celebrate individuality through design that adapts to your lifestyle and site, from family-friendly foundations to collector-worthy maples and conifers.

  • Curated — Beauty comes from intention. Our palettes pair plants that naturally belong together—balanced in form, color, and texture across every season.

  • Effortless — Gardens should inspire joy, not overwhelm. Each design emphasizes right-fit plants, simple rhythms, and low maintenance that grows more beautiful over time.

  • Community — Gardening is richer when shared. Palora Journal is our free space for seasonal insights, garden stories, and plant spotlights. It’s where gardeners can learn, connect, and grow together. Palora Gallery is our collection of specimen pictures to inspire fellow gardeners to start your own journey.

Palora is the art of gardening for modern families: grounded in design, guided by care, and nurtured by community.

Our Approach

Every gardener begins in a different place. Some want a clear path to start, others seek refined design for complex spaces, and some are ready to collect and create with intention.

Palora was built to meet you wherever you are — and to grow with you long after your first plan.

Unlike AI generators or one-time design services, we don’t just hand over a plan.

We offer a pathway — from inspiration to realization — combining refined design, practical guidance, and an ongoing community of gardeners learning side by side.
